After only a couple of days of starting my "schedule" for video making, I finished the Fortnite video today. It's not exactly a schedule but instead more like a daily goal, that goal being "4 hours a day" of any type of video making progress, or "enrichment" which is only defined very loosely in order to not feel trapped or forced to work during those 4 hours. "enrichment" is simply just increasing my base-line knowledge of a certain medium or expirencing the roots of a important work. But that's not exactly it either. For example playing the visual novel "Kanon" would easily fall under this rule for me, even though I'm very familiar with Key's other works. It's a sort of business and pleasure sort of deal. "enrichment" really exists so I both don't waste time or don't have to feel like I'm wasting time. That's really why the 4 hours exist, because I can enjoy my free time without that awful feeling of "not doing enough" because I reached my daily goal in!
So now that I finished that Fortnite video... What do I do now? The obvious answer is to work on my Frutiger Aero video since I finished recording my voice and gameplay footage. But once I finish that video, I'm going straight back to square one, since I have to start from scratch and script a video again. I've already decided that my first video I post on my Youtube return will be the Gynoid video, since that video showcases a lot about the kind of "image" I want my channel to have. So once the Frutiger Aero video is done, I'm no longer doing test videos anymore, I'm jumping straight into the real thing. I've got other ideas but none of them have been as concrete as the gynoid video. But I think as long as I keep working towards it, I'll be fine. After all my big goal is to upload on December 1st, my secondary goal is to upload the next 3 videos the following week to establish an early backlog for others to view. Even if I don't create that backlog of videos I want, it's more important for me to release that video on December 1st.
Man scripting is really hard! I've been really earnestly taking in advice from Youtubers like Hazel, Marsh, Mara and Ah Lecks. It's all been extremely good advice, but reaching the kind of script quality I want is so difficult! Just read it aloud and write in your natural voice is good advice but man, the worst part of making videos is recording my voice! As tempting as using some sort of text to speach is, hence my visual novel translation video using the microsoft sam voice, it is just not the way. Currently and hopefully for the last time in my life, I have to wait for everyone in my house to either be asleep or out of the house before I can record my voice. I would really like to get over that anxiety but I think it's just something I have to live with for now, until I get more comfortable with the idea of being heard.
Alright enough chatter! I've really been loving the new process I have for making videos. It's completely different from the types of videos I made before, and it takes a way larger amount of effort to make them, but even if I cringe at all the videos I've made so far. I still really like them. I may have talked about loving creativity before, but now I'm walking the walk. Link to the Fortnite Makes Me Happy video - Fortnite Makes Me Happy :)
